HQ we thought we’d take a look back at their stunning wedding in Letizia, who was well-known already thanks to her job as a news anchor for Spanish national TV, and the future King revealed their wedding plans to the world during a news conference in November at the Zarzuela Palace. Six months later, on 22 May , the prince wed his blushing bride in a beautiful wedding ceremony held in Madrid’s Almudena Cathedral, making Letizia a princess — and then, a decade later, when Felipe ascended the throne, a queen.

Scroll through to take a look back at all the highlights of King Felipe and Queen Letizia’s royal wedding. The famously steady international journalist looked moved by emotion as she gazed at the crowds who gathered in the streets of Madrid for the historic royal wedding day. The bride made an absolutely stunning entrance, accompanied down the aisle by her proud father Jesus. The bride’s elegant dress was designed by year-old Spanish couturier Manuel Pertegaz.

Perhaps the most striking feature of the off-white silk dress was a high-standing collar. The collar, like the edging of the rest of the dress, was picked out with heavy white embroidery depicting the fleur de lys and ears of wheat — details from the Prince of Asturias crest. Behind the bride swept a four-and-a-half-meter circular train and on her head she wore a diamond tiara which Queen Sofia, her mother-in-law, had worn on her wedding day to King Juan Carlos in Throughout the ceremony the couple were spotted stealing romantic glances as Cardinal Rouco Varela, the archbishop of Madrid, conducted the lengthy Catholic Mass.

Online dating can be tough for everyone, but women face a particularly difficult challenge: dealing with aggressive messages from men on a daily basis. No one likes rejection, but some men on online dating sites like OKCupid and Tinder lack the grace to deal with women politely turning them down. Alexandra Tweten created the Instagram account Bye Felipe to highlight the insulting, ridiculous and sometimes outright threatening messages that women receive online.

I hope that men realize that women are inundated with messages so we can’t reply to all of them,” said Tweten to Mashable. Their name then becomes ‘Felipe,’ a random dude that nobody is sad to see go. The men make overtly sexual comments like “what is your bra size? The women who send in their screenshots to Tweten’s Instagram account say no — sometimes clearly, sometimes apologetically — to the men who message them, and then face verbal abuse and insults in return.

Other times, women ignore the rude messages and are still attacked. There seems to be no safe way out of such situations. Just move on if she’s not interested,” Tweten said. Despite the often threatening nature of these messages, Bye Felipe has a biting sense of humor by calling out ridiculousness of the messages with witty comebacks. Most of all, Tweten hopes exposing these messages will lead to a kinder online experience. I wanted to expose the social atmosphere that breeds these types of messages from misogynistic men.

Four years ago, Alexandra Tweten was a writer living in Los Angeles and, like many of her peers, she was open to finding companionship on online dating apps. Before long she found she was being inundated with messages from men that fell somewhere on a scale from annoying and needy to disrespectful and even violent. She started an Instagram account as a joke among friends, screencapping and sharing some of the rude and outrageous messages they received.

The Instagram started in when I was having a conversation with a bunch of friends online about how men sometimes turn hostile when rejected or ignored. We all started posting the crazy messages we had received on dating sites and made fun of them. It was originally just an inside joke, and a way to make fun of men who tried to make us feel bad. When did you realize you had really hit a nerve with a large audience and was growing beyond that inside joke? A few weeks later, a journalist, Olga Khazan at The Atlantic , reached out to me because she was doing an article about online harassment.

The day the article came out was pretty crazy. I woke up to my phone getting hundreds of push notifications from Instagram. Why do you think it resonates with so many people and they continue to want to talk to you about these issues? I think it resonates with women because we see it as an everyday phenomenon. We expect it. I think it resonates with men because a lot of men had no idea that it was happening, or at least the extent to which the abusive responses are happening.
